Frequently Asked Questions

Q

What's a hackathon?

A

The term "hackathon" is a portmanteau of "hacking" and "marathon." Typically, hackathons are events where participants are encouraged to create a product from beginning to end within a short time frame to address a specific problem. As a result, these projects may be a bit rough, which is what "hack" refers to—not to be confused with "hacking" as in illegally accessing a computer system. In practice, modern hackathons expand on this idea by incorporating workshops, a variety of problems to tackle, and food—all of which we offer!

Q

Do I have to sign up?

A

To secure a spot at the hackathon, you must sign up in advance. We need to know the exact number of participants to make necessary arrangements. Unfortunately, if individuals arrive without registering online, we won't be able to accommodate them.

Q

Do I need to know how to code?

This event is made for everyone! Whether you are a beginner or an advanced programmer, the opportunity to learn useful things will be presented to you! In addition, we will be hosting beginner workshops. All you have to bring is your smile!

What kind of projects can I make?

Feel free to unleash your creativity! If there's a specific problem that you want to solve, we strongly encourage you to tackle it during BrébeufHx. However, we kindly request that you refrain from starting any programming before the event begins to ensure fairness for all participants.
