Hackathon 2022
Short summary of the event
For the first time, during the fifth edition of BrébeufHx, the event took place in hybrid mode. Despite the snowstorm having canceled the cancellation of classes as well as the report of the event added by COVID-19, more than 300 high school and college students from across Canada participated on February 18 and 19, including 100 face-to-face and over 200 virtual.
These participants had the chance to be guided by the mentors present to learn or improve their programming knowledge.
Workshops were offered by the mentors, activities were organized and participants had the choice to participate in 3 categories of challenges: HTML beginners, Python beginners and advanced. Over $3,500 in prizes were given away at the event.
BrébeufHx continued its community involvement through a partnership with UNICEF Brébeuf, allowing them to sell snacks to participants as fundraisers for their organization (all surplus food was donated to MultiCaf), and by having as the theme of the event "the protection of children's rights". The participants performing the advanced challenges therefore created computer programs offering solutions to this global challenge.
Last but not least, we would like to thank all our sponsors and mentors for supporting us and helping us create an unbelievable hackathon.
